Muscat, 22nd April 2019: A major step in a pioneering joint project between Duqm Refinery and Oman Sail saw the participation of 50 students in a training course to boost their employment prospects in Millenium Resort Al Mussanah. The three-day course saw the participation of Grade 11 and 12 school students, aged 17 and 18, take on a series of theoretical and outdoor practical challenges to develop useful workplace skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork, decision making and self-management. The course comes after a successful debut last November, which saw 100 school kids taking part to unlock their potentials.

Al Ajmi frthered “With the expert assistance of the team from Oman Sail the Al Nokhedha program added a real value to human capital by boosting confidence, empowering the youth of Oman and preparing them for entry into the workplace.”

The Mussanah course received 50 students through a series of workshops detailing its objectives, followed by practical exercises including sailing to teach a variety of skills while testing the students out of their ‘comfort zones’.

“This programme brought real benefits to the 50 young people taking part and equip them with some of the vital skills that are highly valued in the workplace,” said Khamis Al Anbouri, Head of Corporate and Personal Development (Zimam) at Oman Sail.

“Our Zimam team have a track record of success working on youth development programmes with various schools, colleges and businesses, and we look forward to taking this partnership project with Duqm Refinery forward.”
