The wealth created by the refinery would therefore not only benefit employees and shareholders, but the surrounding community as well. To this end, OQ8 CSR programmes are designed to deliver long-term social benefits, while simultaneously tackling more pressing community needs.
Our vision is to integrate Social Investment in ways that can benefit both society and business. One vital aspect is building partnerships with local communities and other stakeholders in order to deliver meaningful and valuable social benefits. At the same time, a sense of company spirit and pride will be fostered at the refinery by involving employees in all company social activities.

We also seek to develop local trade and businesses through spin-off projects arising from our operations as part of our ICV programmes.
Social Investment Strategy
OQ8 considers Social Investment as an integral part of its overall strategy and culture OQ8 considers Corporate Social Responsibility as an integral part of its overall strategy and culture.
Our approach towards Social Investment aligns with His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik Al Said’s vision of upskilling the youth, empowering women, conserving the environment, and preserving our culture. Thus, we have three guiding pillars based on which we have built our Social Investment strategy. They are education and health, economic prosperity, and environmental stewardship.
We aim to have a mutually beneficial relationship with local communities and strive for continuous open dialogue.
We are committed to the development of the community. We aim to have a mutually beneficial relationship with local communities and strive for continuous open dialogue. Our commitment is deeply rooted in the belief that the local community is a key enabler of the successful delivery of the project.
This philosophy is also fueled with the project’s aim to generate prosperity for both shareholders and the surrounded community. Our commitment to safely manage and deliver the Refinery project depends not only on the necessary official permits from authorities but also informal consent and support from the communities living in and around Duqm.
