During 2015, Duqm Refinery’s support will enable up to 90 young people from government schools in Al Wusta Governorate age between 15-17 to enhance their employability through participation in Outward Bound Oman courses. The program offers challenging outdoor experiences through courses whereby young people can raise self-esteem and realise their full potential, better preparing themselves for the world of employment. Working in close partnership with the National Careers Guidance Centre at the Ministry of Education, Outward Bound courses give young people the opportunity to learn lessons that cannot be learnt in a classroom, and provide exposure to the key skills sought by leading employers in Oman. “We believe in the youth’s capabilities and their potential to contribute towards the development of their communities,” Nas-ha Al Fallahi, General Manager of Corporate Affairs at Duqm Refinery, said. “We see Outward Bound as one of the vehicles through which we can help to un-lock the youth’s potentials, as well as empowering them with specific skills such leadership and problem solving” The Patron of Outward Bound Oman, HH Sayyid Faisal Bin Turki Al Said, said “I believe Outward Bound Oman in its own way makes a significant contribution to the development of our young people in Oman. The Patrons Company is a concept that brings together leading companies who believe that the best use of corporate social responsibility is to invest in young people, and I thank Duqm Refinery for taking active, leading role in this initiative.
