Duqm Refinery Organizes an “open Forum for the Pre-qualified EPC Tenderers” in Duqm

Muscat: Further to the release of the invitation to tender for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts of the Duqm Refinery project; the 7 pre-qualified tenderers were invited to attend an open forum in Crown Plaza Duqm organized by Duqm Refinery. The 7 tenderers comprise a combination of joint ventures, alliances, and sole entities capturing a total of 15 international companies. The forum scheduled a briefing session to familiarize the tenderers with the tender process together with visits to the proposed construction site, Oman Dry Dock, Port of Duqm and other surrounding infrastructure. The forum commenced with a welcome note from HE. Said bin Hamdoon Al Harthy, Undersecretary of Ports and Maritime Affairs, Board member of the Special Economic Zone Authority and was followed by a summary of the project by Jacobus Nieuwenhuijze, Project Director of Duqm Refinery. Commenting on the event Jacobus Nieuwenhuijze, Project Director of Duqm Refinery said “the forum serves as an ideal platform not just for Duqm Refinery to interface with the tenderers but also for local Duqm companies to engage with them to promote their own services and add value to the project.” The briefing session featured presentations from Economic Zone Authority of Duqm, Takatuf and the local Duqm companies on the capabilities and level of support that would be available. The local companies in attendance included Oman Dry Dock Company, the Renaissance Services group, Rural Authority for Electricity and Water, the Special, Port of Duqm and Duqm Development Company. The pre-qualified companies invited to tender include: CB&I BV,/CTCI Corporation. Daelim Industrial Co., Ltd.,/Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.,/Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd. Fluor Transworld Services Ltd. JGC Corporation,/GS Engineering & Construction Corp.,/Saipem S.p.A Petrofac International Limited/Samsung Engineering Co., Ltd.,/Chiyoda Corporation SK Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. Tecnicas Reunidas SA,/Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. Duqm Refinery will be one of the growth engines for the special economic zone. It will provide development opportunities for new projects that will directly and indirectly interface with the refinery. These projects will look to benefit from the refinery’s products as well as provide different logistic services to the refinery. END
